Mary and I moved to Pittsburgh in the summer of 2019. We bought our condo later in the year and began our plans to remodel it. We are Pennsylvania natives, but lived in the eastern and central part of the state and were not familiar with Pittsburgh area contractors.
We began to interview several contractors to discuss our ideas about what could be done in the remodel. Most of the contractors were cooperative, but some were more so than others. Some contractors included design features that others did not. By the time we completed the interviews with these contractors we were happy to settle on Tischendorf Contractor Services because we felt they listened to what we had in mind, we found them easy to work with, their costs fit our budget and their range of services fit our every need as the remodel plan was formed.
We began the remodel in January, 2020 and were eager to complete the process by the end of March. By mid-March, however, the state issued orders to shutdown construction activities because of COVID-19. At that point we were only a few weeks away from completing what we started. At the time the shutdown order was filed, there was confusion about what was covered, what was excluded, and whether an exception could be obtained for a project that was only a few weeks away from completion. Independent of our urging Todd inquired about the ability to complete our job and was granted the authority to do so.
What we started is now essentially completed with some minor work left to do that will be done in the coming months. We are settled into the remodeled unit and are enjoying what we bought.
In sum, we are pleased with the work that Todd’s crew has done as we got to know many of the regulars throughout the construction process. The prices he quoted were the prices we paid. After making an initial payment, we paid for work that was done during the prior week. This kept us up to date and allowed us to put off some of the work until later. Our experience with Todd and his workers was pleasant and professional. We are pleased with our decision, the outcome of the work and we are happy to offer this recommendation to others who are looking for construction and remodeling services.
