Like many home owners, we have had bad experiences with disreputable building contractors, particularly in building a major addition to our home and other major repairs . This resulted in substantial anxiety and significant financial loss due to a contractor refusing to complete contracted work for which we had paid in full. Consequently, we were very cautious in looking for another contractor to do major remodeling work on our basement, master bathroom and other projects. Luckily, we found Todd Tischendorf through Angie’s List. Todd came highly recommended with a “A” rating. Still, we were cautious.
Todd not only did the contracted work, but was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in providing various ideas to improve our projects. Todd went the extra mile in making certain that we were satisfied and that the work was first-rate. As an example, our basement ceiling was a hodge-podge of boxed-in duct work, pipes, and beams which previous home owners had covered with cheap acoustical tiles. Todd streamlined the construction and provided additional height in the ceiling by eliminating unnecessary obstructions and installing drywall. Todd worked productively with the local municipal building inspector to make sure that the updated elements of our old construction were now up to code. He transformed a crude cinder block “bump-out” into a great office and studio space, raising the ceiling, constructing a new roof and installing new flooring. In addition to making major renovations to the master bathroom, Todd also installed a closet in one of the bedrooms. The work was done so precisely, that one cannot tell that the closet is not original to the house.
Todd also works seamlessly with other contractors. When the bump-out was being remodeled, Todd worked closely with the window installers to insure that our job was done properly. In other words, when you are Todd’s customer, he looks out after your interests and makes certain that every aspect of the project – even those that are not his primary responsibility – meet his very high standards. In addition, Todd is not only very knowledgeable and conscientious, but he is also very considerate and he actually listens to the homeowner. He has often gone the extra mile in making sure that his customers were satisfied, often adding extra touches which bring additional quality to the project. He is also very patient and understanding which is a major plus in dealing with homeowners.
Todd’s work ethic and attitude are also reflected in his staff. Not only does he carefully select good, knowledgeable craftspeople, but he makes certain that they and their work reflect his strong customer-centered work ethnic and dependability. This attitude extends to Todd’s subcontractors, such as electricians, plumbers, etc. Todd is very selective and hires only those who meet his exacting standards. We have had Todd’s team do additional work for us and we have always been highly satisfied with the result. And, if there is ever a problem, Todd never hesitates to send someone over to correct the issue. From time-to-time we have had emergencies and Todd has immediately sent someone to correct the problem, often within a short time after contacting him.
Todd is not only an expert craftsman and contractor, but he is also a relationship builder. He cares very much for his customers and their projects and, in turn, his customers continue to place their trust in him and in his fine workmanship.
We would not hesitate to recommend Todd Tischendorf to anyone; he is first-rate. These days, one must unfortunately be very cautious when engaging vendors and contractors. We have every confidence in Todd and trust him implicitly.
